THE DIGITECH TAPEThe Haglöf Sweden Digitech Tape is an electronic digital measuring accessory for the DP II Computer Caliper and Digitech Professional.
Log lengths are measured and instantly recorded in the computer, enabling the operator to work efficiently and with less potential error sources.
HARVESTER CALIBRATION
The Digitech Tape is especially useful in log scaling and for Harvester Calibration applications. The tape works with the computer caliper and uses its battery for power and display for result featuring.
The Skalman® calibration system by Haglöf Sweden is market leading and well known for versatility and user friendly work mode. The Skalman system introduces a flexible measuring method called flex measuring. Flex measuring allows the operator to measure and record diameters from any suitable spot on the stem. The operator can avoid knot clusters and damages, and measure any number of times per stem as considered necessary, to record the true and appropriate data for the stem.
LOG SCALING
The Digitech Tape is suitable for log scaling applications, where the log length is measured and recorded in the computer caliper, and tied to other data on the individual log with species, diameter, quality and more.

The Digitech Tape can be operated as a diameter tape together with the Digitech Professional or DP II computer terminal and corresponding software.

Wireless Transmission (Online)
With Digitech BT in LINE mode, data is sent wirelessly to IOS or Android devices. Digitech BT continuously sends all data that is recorded, and nothing is stored locally in the caliper.
The transfer uses Bluetooth (BLE) but requires a custom software or application that can handle the data being sent. The app Haglof Link is an example of software that handles this online transfer.
Local storage
Data can also be stored locally in the Digitech BT as (XML) file. By connecting Digitech BT with Haglof Link on your mobile device or using the Windows application Haglof BLE Commander, you can transfear the file wirelessly via Bluetooth and open the file in Excel or other software.
Compact

The DME instrument system from Haglöf Sweden offers speedy and reliable results for distance measuring in the forest. The DME system works with ultrasound technique, making it especially useful in dense terrain and where underbrush is thick. The built-in BAF functions are useful for point/plot sampling work. The DP DME uses ultrasound to measure distances. The ultrasonic method is well proven and used in instruments such as the Vertex IV, the Vertex Laser and the DME. To measure with the DP DME, the T3 transponder is placed in the plot centre on a monopod staff. The DP DME is installed on the caliper comport and works with the host computer caliper and corresponding software. When measuring the tree diameter with the caliper, the DP DME can be activated to measure the distance from the tree centre to the transponder, placed on the monopod staff in the plot centre.

The software can be customized to, for example, refrain from registering trees outside pre-set plot limits. The host computer supplies battery and display for the DP DME, and all instrument functions are software run.

When performing circular sample plot inventory, the distance to the plot centre from the centre of the tree is automatically calculated by the caliper software. THE DP GPS DMEGLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM AND DISTANCE MEASURER IN ONE
With the DP GPS DME module you can navigate and register coordinates with your DP computer caliper and measure distances with the well-known and proven reliable ultrasound technique from Haglöf Sweden. The module is controlled and operated entirely by the computer caliper and its software application. No additional power supply is needed. The module is small and light and does not affect the balance or weight of the computer caliper when assembled on the caliper com-port.
The DP GPS DME has a 33 channel receiver and supports several different satellite systems such as GPS (US), GLONASS (Russian), Galileo (EU) and GZSS (Japan). The DP GPS DME also supports correction using SBAS: WAAS (American), EGNOS (European) and MSAS (Japanese) which will improve positioning in difficult terrain. The accuracy reaches up to 2.5 m in open terrain, and algorithms predict satellite positions for up to 3 days using data from the latest configurations for up to a month in the DP GPS DME.
POSITION THE CENTER OF THE PLOT
The DP GPS DME add-on offers many possibilities depending of software application used in your caliper. You can, for example, position your sample plots, timber stacks, and stock points and individual trees for special research projects. You can make a track log of stock borders or even a whole estate, and have your DP caliper calculate area dimensions. You can navigate to known points with your computer caliper. Transfer coordinates to your DP caliper, for example on test areas or individual trees, and navigate straight to these for inventory and follow-up.
Computer caliper software
The DME function in the DP GPS DME uses ultrasound signals to determine distances and to measure radius in sample plots. With the DME function you can quickly determine if a tree is standing within or outside the sample plot limits. The results are based on a measurement from the tree center to the center of the plot, for extra accuracy. A DP DME module ultrasound system operates with the transponder T3 on a plot staff/monopod.
The DP GPS DME is compatible with DP II (Bios v 2.16 and forward) and the Digitech Professional (Bios v 1.73 and forward). All functions are run through the software application in your caliper.

The Postex solution from Haglöf Sweden is available in different system configurations. In the DP Postex system, the DP caliper and corresponding software application provides power, processor, memory and display for the Postex module.
The method for individual positioning of trees is perfect when connecting information on ground measured trees to a laser scanned air measuring operation, or to trace individual tree history on sample plots for research and follow-up work. The Postex solution is based on the triangulation method, and the positioning is made from three distances that have been determined by the set-up coordinate system in the Postex rack with transponders. The positioning accuracy allows for reliable results in long-term scientific research projects on tree individuals on permanent plots.

- The EC II D-R is an electronic clinometer with a factor gauge and in-built functions to get estimates for basal area and volume. Use the EC II D-R for height readings from any manually measured and input distance or with a calculated distance.
The distance calculation is performed with trigonometry and a reference height set at 2m/6ft on the object to measure. The EC II D-R model also offers adjustable form factor from 0.10…0.95 (default 0.45). Use the built-in basal area functions to count number of stems in your EC II D-R with one of four basal area factors (0.5,1,2,4 or 5,10,20,40). The EC II D-R will automatically display a calculation of the basal area and give a volume estimate based on the dominant tree height or average height.
Calculate the distance with EC II D-R
For best possible results, stand as far from the tree as the tree is high when performing the measurement. To calculate the distance, set a reference height mark at 2m / 6ft on the tree.
- Put a mark on the tree at reference height 2m / 6ft. Walk away from the tree long enough to see the root, the reference mark and the top of the tree.
- First aim at the root and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes in the display.
- Aim at the reference height mark and press the button until the signal is heard and the value freezes. The calculated distance will show briefly.
- Aim at the tree top (or other height on the tree) and press the button until the signal is heard again and the value freezes. The calculated height value now shows in the instrument display.
Measure the distance manually
For best possible results, stand as far from the tree as the tree is high when performing the measurement.
- Measure the distance from the tree root to your eye. Use a measuring tape or thread meter. Move away from the tree until you can visualize the entire tree – both the root and the top of the tree.
- Enter the measured distance value in the EC II-D instrument.
- Aim at the root and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes in the display.
- Aim at the tree top (or other height on the tree) and press the button until the signal is heard and the value freezes.The calculated height now shows in the instrument display.
