Cetacean Research™ C305 Hydrophones, shielded versions of the Cetacean Research™ C304XR with a tougher encapsulation, are available for purchase.
The Cetacean Research™ C305 series hydrophones have a directional receive pattern with very wide frequency response for monitoring ultrasonic signals not detectable by competing brands. The connector is an integral part of the hydrophone. Hydrophones are not individually calibrated but calibrated frequency response measurements can be performed on request.

Cetacean Research™ C56 modular hydrophones are intended to be connected to as many as five other C56 hydrophones (for a total of 6 channels) on a single cable to form an easy-to-use array. They are an inline version of the Cetacean Research™ C55 hydrophone.
These preamplified, cylindrical hydrophones are designed for the detection of infrasonic, audible, and ultrasonic sounds. In addition to typical underwater use, these hydrophones can also be used for the detection of airborne and subterranean sounds and vibrations.
C56 hydrophones include two integral connectors each and are manufactured using superior piezoelectric transducers encapsulated in a very rugged polyurethane. The hydrophones are not individually calibrated but calibrated frequency response measurements can be performed on request.
C57 Hydrophones

Our new C57 hydrophones are in production and they sound fantastic!
The Cetacean Research™ C57 hydrophone series is an extra rugged version of our very popular C55 hydrophone; with a shape that allows it to be towed behind a boat with less flow noise. The C57 utilizes a slightly softer polyurethane encapsulation material than the C55, which results in even better underwater acoustic performance.

CR1 Hydrophone
CR1 HydrophoneCR1 Hydrophone
Cetacean Research™ CR1 hydrophones are excellent multi-purpose hydrophones. The most recent release of the CR1 is the CR1A.
Various uses are detection & recording of very loud signals, listening & recording of quieter sounds like cetaceans, whale watching operations, and terrestrial applications.
- This non-preamplified hydrophone is ideal for the detection and recording of very loud signals; such as those from pile driving, air guns, or underwater demolition operations.
- In addition, the CR1 series can be used with an external preamplifier (such as the ART USB Dual Pre) for recording and listening to the quieter sounds of cetaceans and other underwater sources.
- The CR1 series models also serve very well as a robust hydrophone for whale watching operations when used directly with a battery powered portable amplifier.
- Terrestrial applications for the CR1 series hydrophones include vibration detection and use as a geophone.
The hydrophone comes with an extra tough, flexible coaxial cable. The cables can be terminated with either BNC or mono phone plug connectors. All CR1 series hydrophones are individually spot calibrated at the factory.
CR2 Hydrophone
CR2 HydrophoneCR2 Hydrophone
The Cetacean Research™ CR2 hydrophone is ideal for the detection and recording of extremely loud signals.
Examples of such loud sources include close-range dolphin echolocation, high-power sonar, large pile drivers, air gun arrays, and underwater explosions.
Unlike most hydrophones, the Cetacean Research™ CR2 hydrophone transducer is made from a material that is virtually indestructible. The hydrophones are molded to an extra tough, flexible coaxial cable. The cables can be terminated with either BNC or mono phone plug connectors.
Hydrophones are not individually calibrated. Calibrated frequency response measurements can be performed on request.

SQ26-01 Hydrophone
SQ26-01 HydrophoneSQ26-01 Hydrophone
The Sensor Technology SQ26-01 hydrophone is a reliable, low cost, rugged hydrophone which is integrated into instrumentation.
The SQ26-01 hydrophone is commonly used in towed arrays, AUVs, and autonomous recorders. This hydrophone is very popular with student AUV competition teams.
The usable response (+3/-12dB) is good to better than 50kHz. The official “Flat” frequency response (±1dB) is rated to 28kHz. See the frequency response plots and the beam pattern plots (click on any thumbnail for enlargements).
Although the SQ26-01 hydrophone is low cost, it is a professional hydrophone and is not recommended for novice users.
The SQ26-01 hydrophone has a 2000m depth rating and is, therefore, subject to export restrictions.
