The Kestrel 5500 does it all – measures altitude, barometric pressure, crosswind, density altitude, dew point temperature, direction (wind direction and orientation), headwind/tailwind, heat stress index, relative humidity, station pressure (absolute pressure), temperature, wet bulb temperature (Psychrometric), wind chill, and wind speed. The Kestrel 5500 features a large, high contrast screen, dual color backlight, scratch- and breakage-resistant window, corrosion-resistant battery compartment with secure door, intuitive user-interface, plus it tracks and logs over 10,000 sets of time-stamped data. Data can be transferred to a PC/MAC with the optional waterproof USB Data Transfer Cable (sold separately). Hondex Digital Depth Sounder
Waterproof to a depth of 150’ (50m), this sounder features a built-in transducer and measures depths in feet or meters in a range of 1.8’ to 260’ (0.6m to 79m). The transducer sends high frequency pulses to the bottom of a body of water where these pulses are reflected back and converted to electrical pulses that are amplified and displayed on the easy-to-read LCD. The seven-digit LCD is backlit for night use. This compact depth sounder transports easily and stores conveniently – it will even slip into a shirt pocket! Fish Ray Handheld Sonar Depth Sounder Model FR300
Operating Depth: 2’ to 399’.
Simply place the nose end of the Fish Ray in the water and pull the trigger to quickly obtain water depth measurements. Readings instantly appear on the digital LCD display in feet. Once you determine a stable bottom depth, you can then slowly sweep the Fish Ray through the water to scan for sudden depth changes that indicate the presence of fish or contour variations. Three factors to consider when ordering an increment borer are bit length, core diameter and thread style. Borer Bit Length depends on the size of the trees you will be boring. Length is measured from the tip of the threads to the end of the round section of the borer bit. This is the maximum depth the bit will penetrate. Core Diameter of the wood sample is determined by the inside diameter of the opening at the threaded end of the bit. 0.169” is commonly used for general forestry use, 0.200” for wood preserving testing and 0.500” for large amounts of wood for qualitative analysis. 2- or 3-Thread style is a matter of personal preference. A 2-thread borer has two threads on the cutting edge of the bit, each originating 180° apart. A 3-thread borer has three threads, each originating 120° apart. The higher thread pitch of the 3-thread borer will penetrate deeper per revolution than a 2-thread. A 3-thread will also produce less friction because more steel is in contact with the wood. The ease at which a borer penetrates wood depends on wood hardness, friction properties and capability/strength of the user.
Kestrel 3500 Pocket Weather Meter
Providing a wealth of weather information, the Kestrel 3500 measures barometric pressure, altitude, temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind chill, dew point, wet bulb, and heat index. Measure current, maximum, and average wind speed in meters per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, feet per minute, knots, or Beaufort Force. Temperature, wind chill, heat stress, and dew point are shown in °C or °F. Relative humidity is displayed as a percentage. Pressure is measured in hPa or inHg. Altitude is displayed in feet or meters. Measurements are shown on a large backlit display. An innovative thermally-adjusted humidity sensor provides stable, accurate measurements even during abrupt condition changes. Other features include a real-time clock, hold function, quick response external thermistor, a high precision pressure sensor, and a user-replaceable impeller. Precise functionality and comfortable handling with a long-life cycle. The Haga altimeter is a gravity-controlled pivoted pointer with a series of scales (15, 20, 25 and 30), chains (66’ L) and a percent scale. Baseline scales are assigned by the user, and the baseline length is selected by turning an adjustment wheel to the desired scale. A Spherical Crown Densiometer works similar to a periscope. The spherical shaped mirror reflects the sky above you to help determine the amount of tree canopy.

In order for a Densiometer to be used properly, it must be level. Our Spherical Crown Densiometer features a built in leveling bubble, so the Densiometer can always be used correctly.
The readings from the Convex Densiometer represent a larger sample size than those from the Concave Densiometer.
