D500X Ultrasound Detector/Recorder Mk II
The D500X Mk II is as easy to use and provides the same features as the classic D500X, with the following exceptions:
The D500X is an ultrasound recording unit intended for long-term, unattended recording of bat calls. In contrast to time expansion bat detectors, the D500X records full-spectrum ultrasound in real time with virtually no gaps between recordings. The recorder is equipped with four slots for CF cards, which typically makes it possible to leave the unit in the field for more than a month. The triggering system allows the device to automatically start recording as a sound is detected.
| Weight | 1300 g |
| Dimensions | 165 × 170 × 53 mm |
| Class | Direct, high-speed recording |
| Microphone | Advanced electret, jack for external microphone |
| Frequency range | 15 kHz – 190 kHz (500 kHz sampling rate, high-pass filter enabled) 5 kHz – 190 kHz (500 kHz sampling rate, high-pass filter disabled) |
| Connections | External microphone, external trigger, external DC supply |
| Timer | Four on/off periods per day |
| Batteries | 4 x AA size, Alkaline or NiMH recommended |
| External DC supply | 5.5-8 V, typically ca. 200 mA (average, when recording), depends on CF card type and number of CF cards |
| Recording | ADC Resolution: 16 bits Anti-aliasing filter: Yes, 8th order, 190 kHz cut-off frequency Sampling rates: 44.1, 300, 500 kHz (optimized for 500 kHz) Recording length: 0.3, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 sec or manual recording Recording medium: CF card, 4 slots |
AudioMoth
It is a low-cost, open-source acoustic monitoring device used for monitoring wildlife. AudioMoth is not only sensitive to audible sounds but well into ultrasonic frequencies. It records uncompressed audio onto a micro SD card from 8,000 to 384,000 samples per second.
This units can be programmed to monitor wildlife populations by recording the calls of specific target species. Furthermore, it can serve as an alert system detecting sounds of human exploitation, such as the blast of a shotgun or the roar of a chainsaw.
A popular research tool for environmental and biodiversity researchers worldwide. Most importantly you can now find unattended AudioMoths in some very unexpected places such as rain forests, jungles, and bat caves worldwide.
KEY FEATURES:
• EFM32 Gecko processor
• Capable of recording at sampling rates of up to 384kHz
• Records uncompressed WAV files to microSD card
• Powered by 3 x AA batteries
• With Analog MEMS microphone
• Analog pre-amplifier with adjustable gain
• Measures just 58 x 48 x 15 mm
• Configurable USB interface
• Also Onboard real-time clock keeps track of time
• Comes with a plastic bag to prevent damage by moisture
Moreover Units from LabMaker come with the firmware already installed. Batteries, microSD card and USB cable not included.

Anabat Scout Active Bat Detector
The Anabat Scout is an affordable, full spectrum bat detector designed specifically for active bat monitoring.
Titley Scientific have developed a bat detector tailored to your active survey needs. The Anabat Scout is an easy-to-use unit that can play heterodyne, auto-heterodyne and frequency division audio through earphones or the built-in speaker. But it’s not limited to live listening, you can record full spectrum and zero crossing files to an SD card, with every file geo-tagged. You can even record voice notes to the SD Card.
The Scout’s features don’t end with acoustics, it also has an in/out bat counter which time stamps and geotags every count. It is robust and ergonomically designed, and comes with a protective carry pouch with belt loop and lanyard. For those on the go, use the Scout in transect mode with the built-in GPS so you can save your track. When you get back to the office, you can analyse and view your files on a map with your track using the free Anabat Insight software.
Titley Scientific knows you like to work in the dark, the small black OLED display isn’t distracting, only giving you the crucial information, and can be operated in bright or dim modes. The glow-in-the-dark buttons means that you can find and operate your detector even on the darkest night without your headtorch!
Features:
With a Magenta Bat Detector you can listen to ultrasonic chirps, smacks and clicks from these amazing creatures. Special circuitry detects the human-inaudible sounds emitted by bats and processes them into a form that human hearing can discern.
D240x Ultrasound Detector
Very popular heterodyne and time expansion detector with backlit, large digit, accurate digital display, showing the tuned frequency in the heterodyne mode. The frequency and volume controls are on the side of the case, making it easy to adjust. Using stereo headphones, the heterodyne signal is heard on the left channel and the time expansion signal on the right channel. When the built-in speaker is used, a switch is used to select the heterodyne or time expansion signal.
A digital recorder can be connected to the D240X to record the time expanded calls for analysis on a PC. If the recorder has a “voice activated” recording mode, a fully automatic bat recording system is obtained, which can be left in the field for unattended recording of bat calls.
